TSM Bjergsen looking to return to playing In 2022

Historically, TSM FTX has only had three mid laners. Those being now owner Andy “Reginald” Dinh, Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and currently mid laner, Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage. After the disappointing performance at Worlds 2020, Bjergsen retired and stepped away from being an active player and became the coach for the TSM LCS roster.

In his first split as a coach, he led the team to a first place finish in the LCS, only to not make Worlds after losing to Cloud9 in the losers bracket during the LCS Summer Playoffs.

His efforts with his coaching staff also led to many nominations for the team to receive the LCS coaching staff of the split nominations, though the award went to Evil Geniuses coaching staff led by their head coach Peter “Peter” Dun. He also had the LCS MVP, Mingyi “Spica” Lu, on his team.

Though his first split may have been a success, his may still want to be a player and make an active difference on the team instead of from the background. Per The Upcomer, Bjergsen may be returning to pro play in 2022.

Though he signed before the beginning of the 2021 LCS Spring Split, his contract is due to end on November 16, 2021. Once this date comes to pass, Bjergsen is a free agent.

Though he is signed to TSM, returning to the team is not guaranteed. TSM had paid a fair amount of money to bring in PowerOfEvil, and they seem happy with the build of the team as of right now. Stated in the beforementioned Upcomer article, the source said that Bjergsen may want to test the free agent market, something he never was able to do during his nine-year career.

It is possible that he could stay in North America and sign with TSM again, but there is the possibility that he may go back to Europe and sign with a team there.

As of the writing of this article, Bjergsen and TSM have not commented on the rumor.
