Ever since the release of the recent Genshin Impact 1.4 update, leaks began to surface about the upcoming 1.5 update.

Genshin Impact’s developer miHoYo are cracking down on leakers by cancelling their version 1.5 Closed Beta? Well, that’s something. Here’s everything you need to know about what’s going to happen next.

Genshin Impact 1.4 has only been out for a little while, but leaks for the next iteration of miHoYo’s popular JRPG-Gacha are everywhere.

For the most part, these leaks originated from Genshin Impact 1.5 Closed Beta testers breaking their Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and sharing the information they found out with friends and online.

In addition to this, the datamining community has been hard at work looking through the updated code for Genshin Impact and sharing what they know.

Genshin Impact 1.5 Beta Cancelled

The original plan was for miHoYo to offer a beta for the upcoming Genshin Impact 1.5 update by signing up via a Google Form.

With this, though, came an NDA. NDAs are pretty basic legally-binding contracts. They essentially boil down to a player not being allowed to talk about any aspect of the project in question in any detail.

However, following the leaks, prominent leaker Seewile has shared that the Genshin Impact 1.5 Beta is due to be cancelled. The account has since gone dark.

Genshin Impact also shared the following statement below to… Mixed results.

The responses to this Tweet are pretty self-explainatory.

A lot of players feel that Genshin Impact developers miHoYo should be focusing more on their internal security, rather than making statements on the Community.

In addition to this, players believe that leaks shouldn’t affect the progression of development as much as they do and many see them as a useful tool.

It’s difficult to say what life would be like without leaks, as leaks are so ingrained into the gaming world at this point. A game that launches without leaks is major news for the fact that it wasn’t leaked.

Similarly, a title that is leaked ahead of launch can gain a lot of pre-release traction. The pendulum swings in both ways and we’re not here to comment any further on leaking.
