Genshin Impact is getting its’ very-own New Years celebrations in the Version 1.3 Update coming February 3.
Developers miHoYo are inviting everyone to celebrate Lantern Rite in Liyue Harbour in the next Update, hoping to usher in a new year of adventure across Teyvat.

Genshin Impact Version 1.3 Release Date
The next update for Genshin Impact is scheduled to arrive February 3. Alongside the Lantern Rite Event, a daily login event will also start alongside the release of Genshin Impact Version 1.3.
Free Primogems & Free Characters
With an effort on interactivity, miHoYo have built several activities into the build-up for the Lantern Rite celebrations in Liyue Harbour.
Travelers will have the chance to immerse themselves in every aspect of this historic Liyue tradition, from the preparations in the days leading up to the event to the celebrations on the big day itself. Participation will be richly rewarded, with over 1,600 Primogems, a free four-star Liyue character, and other rewards on offer to help you fully prepare for the year ahead, whatever adventures it may bring.

If you do decide to get stuck in, it wont be for nothing! Over 1600 Primogems are up for grabs during this in-game event alongside a free four-star Liyue character.
Genshin Impact Version 1.3 Lantern Rite Event
Throughout the event, players will have the chance to complete event quests and activities to help the residents of Liyue prepare for the Lantern Rite celebrations which culminate in “a spectacular ceremony on the first full moon of the year”.

Interestingly, in a PlayStation Blog post, miHoYo have shared some interesting bits of information about how the Lantern Rite is actually possible… Check it out below:
” Xiao Lanterns are crafted according to a traditional technique and are able to float thanks to a unique kind of ore called Plaustrite, the same material that was widely used in the construction of the Jade Chamber. Each year, a giant Mingxiao Lantern built in the image of an adeptus is the first lantern to be sent into the sky at the ceremony, followed by thousands of smaller Xiao Lanterns and a beautiful firework display.“

In-game, the Lantern Rite event is being divided into three stages. In each stage, the people of Liyue will have a number of different tasks and requests for players to get stuck into.

Completing these will raise the Festive Fever level and unlock further quests and stories.
There will also be exclusive games, activities, and snacks for players to explore and uncover during the Lantern Rite event!
One of these is the Theater Mechanicus, a tower-defence strategy game. This can be played alone or with friends and has multiple difficulties.
Be sure to spend your Reward Talismans on exclusive event-orientated items at the Xiao Market.
Photography Event
One of the event-exclusive daily events coming with Version 1.3 to Genshin Impact is the photography event Five Flushes of Fortune.
In this event, players will have to claim a Kurious Kamera from Ji Tong and use it to take pictures of specific targets for “troves of treasure”. According to miHoYo, surplus photos can also be shared with friends.
Adventurers Guild Update
Adding to this, Katheryne of the Adventurers’ Guild has a new proposition for players with an Adventure Rank 20 or above. In Vishaps and Where to find Them, Katheryne has a new set of expeditions for players to investigate.

Hunting down the dangerous Geovishaps that are terrorising the Liyue Region will be a challenge, but bring rewards upon success.
Patch Notes
There are currently no Patch Notes to get stuck into regarding Genshin Impact Version 1.3. However, it would be safe to expect some balancing changes and Quality of Life updates regarding the new additions to the game.
