Pokemon Go Weather Week (2021 March)

Last Updated on: 27th June 2022, 10:26 pm

Pokemon Go is throwing another weeklong event at us, this time it’s the Weather Week!

This is the first-ever weather week event, where you can expect Pokemon that spawn in specific conditions to be making more frequent appearances.

When does it start?

The first-ever Weather Week will be starting on the 24th of March, at 10:00 AM local time and ending on the 29th of March at 8:00 PM local time.

Normally I’d comment on this compared to similar events, but as this is a first time, we have nothing of this type to compare it to.

It is fairly standard for a weekly event though, so it seems like it’ll be a nice addition to the usual ones.

What can we expect from the event?

While the event itself is an entirely new type to Pokemon Go, we can gather a fair amount of information based on what is already public and what we know about weekly events already.

Throughout the event in general, Pokemon such as Wingull and Ducklett that enjoy both rainy and windy weather will appear. Additionally, Castform will be appearing at an enhanced rate during the event.

Beyond that, the event itself will be split between Pokemon that enjoy Rainy weather and those that enjoy Windy weather.

To this end, the first half of the event, March 24th 10:00 AM to March 27th at 10:00 AM, will be focused on rainy weather Pokemon, such as Vaporeon, Lotad, and Stunfisk, alongside others that haven’t been revealed yet.

The remainder of the event from 10:00 AM on March the 27th to 8:00 PM March 29th will be focused on Pokemon that enjoy windy conditions instead.

This half of the event is expected to include Pokemon such as Skarmory, Taillow, Pidove and others that are not yet public knowledge.

The event will also feature exclusive research and timed research to get fixed Pokemon encounters, so make sure to clear those if you want some specific things from the event.

These are just the constant basic effects of the event, however, and it’s already looking quite interesting. There are of course other changes, such as eggs and raids which will be covered next.

Other event additions

The event will feature bonus stardust on capture for any Pokemon under the effects of a Weather boost – as a 5-day bonus, hopefully this’ll add up to a large amount of extra Stardust.

We could all do with that, right?

On top of that, the shiny variant of Rain-form Castform will be added to Pokemon Go.

Notably, the shiny forms for sunny and snowy seem to have been added to the game but are not currently available to players in any legitimate way.

Finally, there will also be new spring-themed avatar items available in the shop alongside the launch of Weather week on Pokemon Go.

That’s everything for this article about the upcoming Weather Week for Pokemon Go, best of luck trainers!
