PS Plus April 2021 COUNTDOWN: Games Announced, Oddworld: Soulstorm, Release date and more!

The free games that are given away as part of Sony’s PS Plus subscription service in April 2021 have now been announced, with one PS5 game and two PS4 games on offer.

Here is what you need to know about the latest batch of PS Plus games for April 2021.

The Games

These are the games that will be coming to PS Plus in April 2021;

• Oddworld: Soulstorm (PS5)
• Days Gone (PS4)
• Zombie Army 4 (PS4)

Release Date

The PS Plus for April 2021 will be released a little later than usual, not going live until Tuesday, April 6th.

About The Games

Here is some information about each of the games, overall we think this is a good list this month, with the obvious highlight being Oddworld: Soulstorm as it is launching on day one on PS Plus.

Oddworld: Soulstorm

During the State of Play event it was announced that Oddworld: Soulstorm will be given away for free to PS Plus members on launch day.

Oddworld: Soulstorm launches on April 6th, giving us the date of when the rest of the PS Plus games go live.

The PS5 version of the game is the only one that will be free, PS4 users will still have to purchase the game. But, PS4 users can claim the PS5 version to play at a later date.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Features

Action Adventure Platforming: Evolving the platforming genre by adding RPG-lite elements with player agency to play as they like, whether aggressively or passively.
Narrative: A dark storyline with a twisted sense of humor that shines a light on the ironies that exist in the human condition.
2.9D: Epic environments with massive scale to explore by going into the world, rather than being limited to the traditional side scrolling platformer sense.
Quarma: Quarma is a real time feedback feature that reflects your actions in the game and will influence Abe, his followers, his abilities, and your score throughout the game.
Scavenger’s Economy: Pickpocket enemies, loot lockers, sift through trash cans to acquire resources. Exchange them at vending machines to get products that give you more agency in how you chose to conquer the game’s many challenges.
Crafting: Use scavenged resources and vending machine products to craft items to use as weapons or tools against characters and obstacles.
Strength in Numbers: The more followers you save, the stronger the uprising becomes. Gift crafted items to followers. It’s up to you to decide whether they will be aggressive or passive.
Gameplay: Intense action platforming meets stealth and platform puzzling. Choose whether to burn it down, blow it up or simply try to sneak around it – but beware the deadly environments and enemies at every turn.
Leaderboards: All levels offer a tallying system, leaderboards, achievements, and badges.

Days Gone

Final Fantasy 7 Remake

Please note the PS4 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake available to PlayStation Plus members is not eligible for the PS5 digital version upgrade.

Remnant: From The Ashes

In this third-person survival action shooter, play as one of the last remnants of humanity attempting to retake a world overrun by monstrous, interdimensional invaders. Venture into dynamically-generated worlds alone or with up to two other survivors*, scavenging for supplies and modding your equipment to strengthen your chances of survival when tackling over 100 deadly varieties of enemy and battling epic bosses.

Farpoint

Master an arsenal of weapons to keep yourself alive on a hostile alien world in this free-roaming, first-person PS VR shooter. Optimised for the PlayStation VR Aim controller and fully playable with a DualShock wireless controller, strike out towards your crashed space station solo or with a friend in online co-op. Trade alien threats for testing each other’s skills in a variety of Versus game modes. 

Maquette

Maquette is a first-person recursive puzzle game that takes you into a world where every All that is tiny is simultaneously huge in this intriguing first-person puzzler designed around a Escher-esque recursive simulation. Making its PlayStation 5 debut as part of next month’s PlayStation Plus lineup, Maquette sets you in the center of a world the rules of which are very different from our own.
