Bethesda on Game Pass? Where’s DOOM 2016 Then?

Bethesda Games Xbox GamePass

There’s going to be twenty Bethesda titles on Xbox’s Game Pass Subscription, but where is DOOM 2016? Here’s what we know about what’s in store for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

Earlier in the week, Xbox and Bethesda fans became one and the same officially as the deal bewtween the two companies reached its’ expected conclusion.

You can see the funky little GIF about it below:

Following this, earlier today at the start of the Xbox-Bethesda Round Table discussion… We also got an announcement about Bethesda games being added to Xbox Game Pass.

Good news, right? Well… Almost good news.

DOOM 2016 isn’t on Game Pass?!

When you look at the list of Bethesda titles coming to Xbox Game Pass, there’s one notable thing missing…

DOOM 2016. We know! We didn’t spot it at first either but when you look through the list, it’s definitely not there.

  • Dishonoured
  • Dishonoured 2
  • DOOM
  • DOOM II
  • DOOM 64
  • DOOM 3
  • DOOM Eternal
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Prey
  • Rage 2
  • TES: Morrowind
  • TES: Oblivion
  • TES: Skyrim Special Edition
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • The Evil Within
  • Wolfenstein
  • Wolfenstein The Old Blood
  • Wolfenstein Youngblood

The first Rage title isn’t on Xbox Game Pass either, which… Is unusual but we can live with that. The Evil Within 2’s absence is also an unusual omission.

But DOOM 2016? With Doom Eternal joining Xbox Game Pass, and DOOM 2016 definitely being available on Xbox One… It doesn’t really make much sense.

If you are curious, here’s the low-down on what DOOM 2016 is all about…

Doom takes place during the year 2149 in a research facility on Mars owned by the Union Aerospace Corporation, run by Dr. Samuel Hayden, a UAC scientist whose mind now inhabits an android body after having lost his original to brain cancer. Researchers at the UAC facility have attempted to draw energy from Hell, an alternative dimension inhabited by demons, in order to solve an energy crisis on Earth using the Argent Tower, which siphons energy and allows travel to and from Hell.

To supplement their work, Hayden organizes several expeditions into Hell, bringing back captive demons and artefacts for study. Among them is a sarcophagus containing the Doom Slayer (along with his Praetor Suit), who the demons imprisoned after his earlier rampage through Hell.

We’re not sure we’ll get a straight answer, but it’s worth keeping an eye on the Xbox Game Pass Twitter account anyway just in case.
