Weiss is a Soldier First Class, which made his first appearance in the franchise on Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, where he is known as ”The Immaculate’. He is, in Dirge of Cerberus, the leader of the Deepground organization, which surfaces 3 years after the end of Final Fantasy VII and the defeat of Sephiroth.

What is the Deepground?

The Deepground is a top-secret military force created beneath the Mako Reactor O, they appear for the first time in Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, serving as the game’s main antagonists, together with Professor Hojo. The organization planned on unleashing the final weapon, Omega, but is stopped by the joint effort of Vincent, members of the World Regenesis Organization, and the rest of the heroes of Midgar.

What Does This Mean for the Future of Final Fantasy VII Remake?

The appearance of Weiss lights the hope that other characters deeply connected to him, like the legendary 1st Class Soldier Genesis, as well as other characters who are only known for their appearances in the compilation, can make an appearance in the second part of the Remake series.

The trailer also shows that, as stated before by the developing team and exemplified by its first part, the Remake series will make use of and expand all the material present in the Final Fantasy VII brand, as well as introducing new characters and struggles.

This can be amazing for the fans of the franchise if done right. Since the compilation offers not only an increased depth on the characters we all love, and in the lore of the franchise but also to its whole universe as well,

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will be released on June 10 for the PlayStation 5. The Yuffie featured chapter will be available for purchase on the same date, only on the PS5.
