CD Projekt Red have revealed the details of the upcoming major patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077, aiming to fix several critical bugs in the game.

In a blog post dated March 19th, CDPR detailed some major bug fixes that are planned for the upcoming patch update. The post itself is entirely written in character as news reporter Gillean Jordan of N54 News, with quotes from CDPR developers as well as NPCs from the game.

The first fix outlined was the response time of Night City Police Department (NCPD). The NCPD previously responded far too rapidly, forcing players to think twice before taking any kind of offensive action on the streets. The police NPCs would often spawn behind players and attack immediately.

In the upcoming patch, it seems that the NCPD will take their time to respond. Additionally, police drones will be added to the game to make it seem as if the police will be actively assessing situations on the streets.

Another major fix involves the game’s driving mechanics. A sensitivity slider will be added to the game for players using mouse and keyboard, as well as for those who play on lower frame rates to address the issue of poor handling of vehicles.

CDPR Senior Vehicle Programmer, Séamus, had the following to say about the issue.

“We traced this to some code that wasn’t handling extreme changes in frame rate properly. The steering speed is now very consistent from 20 to 60+ FPS.

(…) we looked at a bunch of tweaks to individual cars and adjusted some of them that were too twitchy in low frame rates, including the player’s Archer Hella.”

To address the issue of car flips, a new Rock&Roll feature is being added to allow players to rock their flipped over vehicle back and forth in order to regain traction. Séamus stated the following regarding this feature.

“We have now added an Unstuck feature that kicks in when you are accelerating and not moving. While holding down the accelerator, you can now rock the vehicle forward or back, or rotate it left/right.”

The final update revolves around the inclusion of the option to change certain keybindings, including the WASD movement and the double-tap-to-dodge function. Additional keybind improvements are slated for future patches.
