Another raid, another world’s first race in Destiny 2 has gone by, and I still haven’t tried going for first since Wrath of the Machine dropped in Destiny 1. But complaints from a D1 vet aside, Destiny 2’s most recent world’s first race for Vault of Glass seemed to be fairly challenging for everyone involved. From the sounds of things, Bungie did a good job tweaking things here and there so that the race wouldn’t be too familiar for anyone who’s run Vault of Glass before.

The original race took about 14 hours for clan PrimeGuard to clear, but this time it only took five hours for the newest team to take the silver belt.

Worthy of the name Elysium

At 3:40 pm, Bungie announced clan Elysium as the winners of the world’s first race.

After five hours of struggle, clan Elysium triumphed over Atheon and got their names put on the raid belt alongside PrimeGuard. While the initial run of the raid went smoothly for everyone involved, it was the challenge mode that really seemed to test the mettle of some of Destiny 2’s most seasoned players. I personally tuned in to a couple of streams and noticed that everyone spent the most time working their way through the challenges.

Many were sure that Vault of Glass was going to be tweaked to accommodate the new movement and strength of players in Destiny 2, and as such were expecting the initial run to take some time. From seeing how much everyone struggled with the challenge mode, it’s safe to say that Bungie did what they could to make players work harder for the prestigious title.

Atheon, the final boss of Vault of Glass. He was the final hurdle to being the newest Destiny 2 world's first clan.
Big, bad, and made of glass (I think).

If you don’t remember, to get the world’s first in this raid, you had to finish the raid once to unlock a special “challenge mode” that would then require you to complete the raid’s encounters with specific requirements. Only upon doing all of these challenges, completing all the triumphs, and opening the final chest would you be able to claim the title of world’s first.

Congratulations, once again, to clan Elysium for being the newest Destiny 2 world’s first clan.
