Patch notes are back! After months of them being absent and sorely missed by the community, Epic Games has finally brought them back with the Fortnite 17.10 update that landed earlier today, bringing alien abductors, parasites, and a new summer event to the game.

Here is everything you need to know about the Fortnite 17.10 update.

Patch Notes

Epic Games has finally brought back patch notes with the Fortnite 17.10 update. For the first time in many months, even years at this point, we finally know what we can expect from the new update.

Alien Abductors

UFOs are a new addition to Chapter 2 Season 7, bringing a new vehicle for players to use for mobility and as a weapon. They can be found across various POIs each match with three randomly being chosen to be taken over by the aliens.

But, now there are new alien abductors, which are visible on the map. By being captured by one of these you are taken to the mothership and forced to play a mini-game of sorts to be able to return back to the game. How you perform in the mothership determines what special loot you can gain before gliding back to the Fortnite island.

Think of it as a gulag from Warzone, but a fun Fortnite version.

Alien Parasites

Along with the alien abductors are new parasites, which latch onto a players head and drains their health down to 60, the shield remains unaffected.

It isn’t all bad though because the parasites prevent the player from taking headshot damage, as well as granting the ability to run faster and jump higher.

UFOs And Recon Scanners Have Been Nerfed

The UFOs have been quite overpowered, with it being incredibly difficult to defend yourself from the barrage of plasma balls that rain down on players.

Epic Games has reduced the fire rate of the UFOs, giving players more opportunity to defend themselves, something that will make the community happy.

The Recon Scanners have also been nerfed, bringing a longer recharge time, as well as a shorter duration once fired.
