Genshin Impact: All You Need to Know About the Pity System

Genshin Impact Pity System

For those who are new to the genre, Genshin Impact is a Gacha style game, which means that players can exchange in-game currencies for a random item, or items. In Genshin, players make use of the game’s Primogens to get Intertwined or Acquaint Fates, on which they can wish upon many banners to receive items of different ranks, in Genshin’s case, 3-star, 4-star, and 5-star weapons and 4 and 5-star characters.

With that said, the game has many banners, where many characters are featured and made available, but as is common with many games, the chances of getting the banner featured 5-star character or a 5-star random item or character are extremely low. So, to help players manage their resources, a system was put in place, that’s right, I am talking about the Pity System.

The pity system, as is called in Genshin, is a mechanic present in many games that guarantee that in a determined number of pulls, you will always get at least one item of said level.

How Does It Work In Genshin Impact?

The pity system in Genshin Impact works in a way that at every 10 pulls you have a 4-star item guaranteed, and in 90, you have a 5-star. But, of course, that doesn’t mean that you will only get a 5-star every 90 pulls, after all, it is all about luck.

Genshin’s pity system also has another peculiarity, in which, if you don’t pull the event featured but another 5-star in the event banner, your next 5-star on the banner is a guarantee featured 5-star!

It’s good to point out that Genshin has many banners and your pity doesn’t carry between them. So if you get a normal 5-star on the normal banner, there’s no guarantee that your next 5-star on the event banner will be the featured character.

Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation 4 (and PlayStation 5, through backward compatibility), Android, iOS, and PC. PlayStation describes the game as:

”You and your sibling traveled to Teyvat from another world. Separated on arrival, and now stranded here, you set about searching for answers from The Seven — the gods of each element.

Joined by Paimon, a kind-hearted sprite guide, your mission takes you through beautiful forests, bustling towns and treacherous dungeons. And while your journey may put you into the path of merciless foes and fiendish puzzles you can count on over 30 playable allies to join your custom party of four, harnessing the power of the elements to overcome all obstacles.

Along the way, you will freely explore this wondrous world, join forces with a diverse range of characters, and unravel the countless mysteries that Teyvat holds.”
