Genshin Impact has a large number of story quests for characters gated behind the use of Story Keys, but how do you earn them?

About Story Keys in Genshin Impact
What is a Story Key?
A Story Key is a consumable item used to permanently unlock story and hangout quests for some characters.
You should be aware that you need at minimum AR 26 to unlock this content.

Thus far all of the events that require Story Keys need 1 or 2 each, so you’ll ultimately need to gather a lot of them if you want to go through all the story content for every character.
And bear in mind, Genshin Impact is almost certainly going to expand the amount of story content available for them, given how popular the game has proven so far – so you will most likely need quite a few even if you only like one or two characters.

So how do I earn Story Keys?
While this may be changed in the future, for the moment the primary way to earn Story Keys is by doing your daily commissions.
You’ll need to complete 8 total daily commissions per Story Key, so that means a minimum of 2 days of gameplay before you can get a single Story Key.
After you’ve done enough commissions, you simply need to claim the key in the

You get 4 daily commissions, and an additional reward available at the adventurers guild for completing all 4 commissions you have available in a day.

How do I claim my Story Keys?
The Story Keys must be claimed from the Story quest screen, which can be accessed from a button in the main quest screen, highlighted below.

Simply click the button in the bottom left to open the Story Quest screen, shown below – where you will find information on how many Commissions you need for more keys and how many keys you currently have.
Highlighted in orange are both the requirements for your next key in the bottom left, and the total keys alongside maximum capacity in the top right.
These can be spent on unlocking both hangout events in the next tab, and story quests in the Story Quests screen.
