Genshin Impact: How to make and customise Map Markers

Genshin Impact World Map

Genshin Impact has a huge sprawling world that only got larger recently with the release of Inazuma, so knowing how to make your own map markers can be very useful.

Fortunately, that’s precisely what I intend to be teaching you how to do in this article, and it’s a pretty easy process once you know how to do so.

How to create Map Markers in Genshin Impact

Making a Map Marker in Genshin Impact is quite a simple process. To get started, open your world map – you can do so by simply pressing the m key.

From here, you’ll need something to mark – naturally don’t bother to mark bosses or the like, as they already appear on the map. If you have a favourite spot or just a good farming location for certain items, those make great candidates to mark on your map.

To do so, click on the map where you would like to place your marker. The default marker, or “pin” should resemble the one shown below.

From here you just need to use the menu at the side that should now have popped out to give it a name, and perhaps change the marker/pins icon. After you’ve done that, hit confirm.

This marker now works as a reminder that there’s a large number of Dandelions here in case I ever need to farm them again for something, such as for usage as a character Ascension material.

Your marker might be for something different entirely – but all you really need to do is make sure you’ll know what that marker means when you see it on your map.

Fans of making use of map tools like this will also want to look into our article here, about the interactive Genshin Impact map from miHoYo available here.

How do Map Markers help me?

Map Markers are useful in helping you find things again in the vast world of Genshin Impact. Maybe you found a chest you can’t open, which a map marker can be used to remind you of the location of in the future.

Similarly, you might have found a puzzle you can’t solve as you’re missing the correct element in your team, or an excellent location to gather a particular resource you need – all of these can be recorded with a custom map marker, making it far easier to relocate them in the future than stumbling around guessing.

Is there anything else?

Not in particular, while map markers are customisable and very useful, they’re also just simple things. You add one, customise it and potentially name it, and you’re pretty much done with it unless you need to delete it.
