The Genshin Impact University Invitational UK is open for registration

While competition on a PVE-only game may sound absurd, Hoyoverse just opened the registration for the Genshin Impact University Invitational UK. Hosted by GINX Esports TV, which will also be airing the competition live, bringing 10 university gaming teams that will compete in different challenges in the game.

This is the first official competition for the game, featuring total prize money of £ 11,000 and, of course, the title of the best university team in the United Kingdom.

When is the Genshin Impact University Invitational UK happening?

The competition will be airing on May 28th, at 4:30 pm BST, and will be live on the GINX Tv channel (Sky channel 433) and also on the GINX Tv official Twitch Channel. According to the social media posts, the finals will be held live in London. The event will also have guests for hosts such as Djarii, Maples, and Atsu.

As stated at the official site for the event:

“Genshin Impact University Invitational UK will be held in the United Kingdom and each team will challenge each other in a series of game contests in Genshin Impact to compete for the championship.

Stage 1: Team Registration and Selection (Online) 9 May, 00:00 – 16 May, 00:00 (UTC+0)

Stage 2: Qualifiers (Local University Divisions) 16 May – 20 May

Stage 3: Finals (Live from London) 28 May”

Can players participate in the Invitational?

The rules for the Genshin Impact University Invitational state that teams of 3 members from the participating institutions, exclusively from the UK, can be formed in order to participate, and teams will compete with themselves to decide which will be the one to represent the university.

What are the prizes?

The total prize consists of £ 11,000 split between the finalists, along with some primogems.

  • 1st – £ 5,000 for the whole team and 2000 Primogems for each team member.
  • 2nd – £ 3,000 for the whole team and 1000 Primogems for each team member.
  • 3rd – £ 2,000 for the whole team and 500 Primogems for each team member.
  • Popularity Award winner – £ 1,000 for the whole team and 600 Primogems for each team member.

As stated by Hoyoverse, “Each team member from the aforementioned three teams will also obtain Genshin Impact merchandise: Acrylic Stands + Keychains. Each team member from teams ranked fourth through tenth place will obtain 500 Primogems+ Keychains.”

And players can also win some extra prizes. 52 supporters of the winning team for the Popularity Award will be granted 100 Primogems.

This is the first step for Genshin Impact into e-sports, and while it may not be as expected, it is surely a good sign for the longevity of the game.
