Following tradition of other games as of late, Halo: MCC has added seasons into the mix of its multiplayer experience as a way to add a constant stream of content to a game to keep it as fresh as possible. Most recently, Halo: MCC has added Season 5 Anvil to its seasonal content. It must work to release seasonal content because even being released in 2014 for Xbox One, making it seven years old, it has gotten constant improvements and additions since launch.

Below, we’ll go over the details of the newest season of Halo: Master Chief Collection below!

Halo: MCC is a compilation of every main entry into the Halo franchise from Halo: Combat Evolved to Halo 4 and more recently: Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST.

Most recently, Season 4 of MCC featured a large amount of Halo: Reach customization options for your character to unlock.

Luckily, if you just started playing now or 5 weeks from now, you can still redeem rewards from previous seasons because all rewards require the same currency. This currency can be earned by leveling up and completing challenges.

Challenges are updated weekly and seasonally. Weekly challenges include PVP and PVE challenges.

PVP challenges can be completed in any multiplayer mode, whereas PVE challenges only earn progress in PVE modes such as Firefight.

Previous Halo: MCC Seasons

Each season of Halo: MCC has had a theme, and a name, leaning more towards a specific game, character, moment or something else from the franchise.

  • Season 1: Noble
  • Season 2: Spark
  • Season 3: Recon
  • Season 4: Reclaimer

Noble features armor for Halo: Reach customization for both Spartan and Elite armors, as well as additional voices for Firefight and other rewards.

Spark features new visor colors as well as weapon and vehicle skins and more for Halo: Combat Evolved.

Recon features ODST Firefight characters, nameplates, weapon skins and more.

Reclaimer features nameplates, vehicle and weapon skins as well as other rewards.

Halo: MCC Season 5: Anvil

Season 5 of MCC, titled Anvil, started January 27th and features over 80 new pieces of armor and over 20 weapon skins for Halo: Reach and Halo 3.

With this update also came an option to disable seeing these in game, both yours and your opponent cosmetic choices.

Also as a highly sought after reward is “The Mister Chief’ helmet, earned by completing the “Because You Begged” challenge on the seasonal challenges tab, shown below.

Other Seasonal Challenges gives other rare rewards such as the Hazard Pay Mongoose skin and the Lucky Shot weapon wrap for the Battle Rifle.

These rewards can be unlocked by winning a certain amount of competitive games and earning headshots with the Battle Rifle.

Overall, something tells me they plan on combining something like this with Halo 5’s REQ system for Halo: Infinite’s multiplayer modes. Personally, I hope at the very least they keep the REQ system because I absolutely love it.

Either way, I see these season updates and weekly challenges across several modes and across the entire collection to last well into the launch of Halo: Infinite.
