Psychonauts 2 hitting Xbox Gamepass at launch

Microsoft’s Gamepass has been a boon for the many players that have subscribed to it, and it’s about to get even better with the addition of Psychonauts 2.

Gamepass includes access to hundreds of games, many of which are critically acclaimed such as the many Yakuza and Elder Scrolls titles, all at your disposal and well worth the 14.99 a month price tag!

Recently however one of the cooler features of Gamepass is that some of the games that have been added to the library of titles have been newly released games as Microsoft tries to incentivize players to sign up for the service.

Psychonauts 2 on Gamepass?

During the Xbox/Bethesda Showcase E3, we also got to see a few brand new games that will be available on Gamepass at launch. One of the most notable titles to come to Gamepass at launch is the long-awaited sequel to Double Fine’s psychedelic platformer, Psychonauts 2.

Psychonauts was a phenomenal platformer that was released in 2005 on the Xbox and Playstation 2 during a time when platformers dominated the gaming landscape. You play Razputin (or Raz), a young boy with psychic powers who was raised in a circus.

Raz runs away from home to Whispering Rock summer camp, a secret government training facility for psychic children, in an attempt to join the ranks of the Psychonauts. Psychonauts 2 is a direct sequel and will take place shortly after the events of the first Psychonauts game, as Raz finally gets to join the organization of psychic super-spies.

Psychonauts was packed full of wit and charm, with genuinely funny dialogue and a distinct aesthetic that would become a hallmark for Double Fine’s future projects, permeating through titles such as Costume Quest or Brutal Legend.

Psychonauts 2 looks to continue this trend with its incredibly bizarre and trippy mental worlds that act as the dungeons of the game are full of as much personality as the people whose brains you’ve entered in the first place.

Psychonauts 2 will be coming to Xbox Gamepass this summer when it launches August 25th, 2020.
