New World: How to change Server and move your Character

Amazon’s New World is finally here – although, you might not have actually been able to play it yet! We won’t go into too many details, but the Server Queues are horrendous and it’s not easy to stay in one long enough to actually get into a game. If you want to know how you can change your server in-game and move your character, we have everything you need to know below…

How to change Server in New World?

At the moment, there isn’t any way you can actually transfer your New World character to another server. You can change the server you are playing on, but each character is currently locked to the server they were created on.

Thankfully, this won’t always be the case. Amazon Game Studios has said that they’re going to implement a feature that will allow players to transfer their characters and change their main server in New World – however, it sounds like this will be a one-off transfer that will be limited to one per account.

This feature isn’t something uncommon in other MMORPGs, so we should see something more permanent implemented in the future. For now, though, there are ways you can avoid being kicked while AFK in a Server Queue or in-game itself.

As you can imagine, this MMORPG has a time-out system that will remove you from your server if you are AFK for a little while. If you have spent hours queuing to get in, being kicked for a short time away from your computer would be… Well, a kick in something.

Amazon Game Studios’ New World isn’t the most polished game we’ve ever seen released, but given the struggles of the studios’ previous projects… It’s amazing we have a game at all.
