5 Pokemon that should be Pseudo-Legendary

Pseudo-legendary Pokemon are Pokemon that aren’t quite legendary but are pretty close. While these Pokemon are incredibly powerful, there are others who, based on the lore, design, or other factors, are deserving of the title. With a little bit of a buff, there are plenty of Pokemon that should be pseudo-legendary.

A pseudo-legendary pokemon is characterized by being a three-stage Pokemon with a base stat total of 600, and an experience total of 1,250,000 exp at level 100. While none of these entries currently meet that criteria, here are 5 Pokemon that with some minor adjustments would definitely fit the bill while also adding diversity to the pool of pseudo-legendary Pokemon.

Arcanine

Arcanine is a fan-favorite fire type Pokemon from the first generation of Pokemon. This Pokemon was actually designed initially to be a legendary Pokemon in the first generation games, Pokemon Red & Blue, but due to already having Moltres in the legendary bird trio, it was changed to a standard Fire-type.

It’s classification is even the Legendary Pokemon! A powerful and imposing Pokemon like Arcanine is certainly a Pokemon that should be pseudo-legendary.

Kingdra

With the abundance of Dragon-type pseudo-legendary Pokemon, the Dragon/Water-type Pokemon Kingdra would be at home amongst the best of them. Kingdra are know to be incredibly powerful with a variety of good abilities and a solid move-pool to make use of them.

Kingdra are also known to have a fierce rivalry with the Pokemon Dragonite, who is also a pseudo-legendary Pokemon. And with the lack of Water-type pseudo-legendary Pokemon, Kingdra would also add a layer of variety even though it still carries the Dragon-typing.

Volcarona

One that should most be a pseudo-legendary Pokemon, Volcarona is a unique and outright stellar Pokemon from Pokemon Black & White.

Encountering this Pokemon itself is a challenge worthy of any legendary Pokemon, as in order to obtain one (and only one is obtainable) the player must have reached near the end of the game and traverse a relatively engaging dungeon full of rare items and Pokemon.

The dungeon itself was an ancient city from a time where Volcarona was worshipped as a deity of fire. It even learns a signature move at level-100, something that is usually limited to legendary pokemon.

Tsareena

Tsareena is a Pokemon that may not appear imposing at first glance, but it’s Queenly Majesty will quickly stomp any hastily formed opinions out.

Tsareena may appear as a cute flowery princess, but this ferocious and cruel aristocrat of Pokemon loves to battle takes pride in humiliating it’s opponents in battle.

And with it’s 120 base attack stat, it is perfectly capable of doing just that. With slight buff to it’s stat spread, Tsareena would be feared as the queen it knows it is.

Hatterene

Pokemon Sword & Shield was a divisive title among long-time fans of the Pokemon franchise for a variety of different reasons. While many of the criticisms of the latest entry of the franchise are valid ones, most players agree that the generation VIII Pokemon themselves are mostly well designed and competitively engaging.

Like most generations, generation VIII only got one pseudo-legendary Pokemon, however they certainly had a lot of strong contenders. The best of which is arguably Hatterene. This Pokemon is powerful enough to read emotions from over 30 miles away, and will easily devastate any foe that fails it’s vibe-check.

Known as the Witch of the Woods, Hatterene is a powerful Psychic/Fairy-type Pokemon with not only a wide movepool providing decent coverage, but also the stats and typing to capitalize upon it’s options. It is also capable of Gigantamaxing making it a much more potent option as well!
