Pokemon Trading Card Game Sword And Shield Chilling Reign

The Pokemon Trading Card Game’s newest expansion for the Sword & Shield series was announced at the end of the month called Chilling Reign. The new expansion will see the first release of some Pokemon from the Galar region, more Battle Styles mechanics and new Legendary Pokemon, and so much more. Let’s go over the details on this new Pokemon Trading Card Game expansion Chilling Reign below.

Since the introduction of VMAX into the Pokemon series with Sword & Shield, V and VMAX Pokemon have become the strongest Pokemon within the franchise right now.

Before the release of VMAX Pokemon, the most recently sought after and strongest Pokemon to obtain were Tag Team cards which would feature two to three Pokemon total.

Theses cards still dominate the field when used as they have GX attacks that complete alter the playing field in an instant, each in their own way.

Some attacks will increase the attacks or defense of your Pokemon for a certain duration, let you choose several cards straight out of your deck, and so many other unique attacks that change each game drastically.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Online

Every set of cards that drops in the Pokemon Trading Card Game also drops within Pokemon Trading Card Game Online so fans of both the game, virtual and physical, get pretty hyped about new sets.

The Pokemon Trading Card Game fan bases are quite different from each other, as players usually partake in one or the other instead of both.

So, you’ll find players looking for codes for the online game while physical players are looking for packs and throwing away codes.

The world of Pokemon has always been hectic with collectibles but recently, the cards have caused a new craze all on their own.

This new set, Chilling Reign, drops June 18th and with it we will be getting booster packs, collector’s boxes and elite trainer boxes.

Booster packs include a random assortment of cards featuring 1-2 holographic cards, 1 energy card and other cards for a total of 11 cards as well as a card for a booster pack within the Pokemon Trading Card Game Online.

What Typically Drops With Each Set of Pokemon Cards?

Collector’s boxes include a variety of larger packages containing Pokemon Trading Cards. These boxes general come with a promoted card or two as well as booster packs, a coin, and some other goodies. Slightly more rare and valuable are the elite trainer boxes.

Elite trainer boxes are the ultimate collectors box featuring 8 booster packs from its featured set, sometimes a promo card, a handful of gameplay tokens and other objects, a stack a varying energy cards as well as card sleeves and dividers with the Elite Trainer Box’s featured Pokemon on them and a code for Pokemon Trading Card Game Online.

Also expect to see 1 booster blister packs and 3 booster blister packs featuring a promo card, packs, as well as a coin and code for Pokemon Trading Card Game Online.

Elite Trainer Boxes contents change per set usually, but sometimes remain consistent for a few releases as well.

These upcoming Elite Trainer Boxes will have 2 different variants, both inspired by Sword & Shield’s The Crown Tundra DLC. Both variants will feature The Crown Tundra’s Legendary Pokemon: Calyrex. One will feature Ice Rider Calyrex while the other will feature Shadow Rider Calyrex.

Previous Elite Trainer Boxes, such as the Shining Fates Elite Trainer Box featuring VMAX Eevee came with a promo card featuring the Pokemon as well.

However, that was the only Elite Trainer Box that could be acquired for that set but the upcoming Chilling Reign Elite Trainer Boxes do not come with a promo card featuring the Pokemon on the respective boxes.

They do however feature their respective Pokemon on the box, the card sleeves as well as the dividers.

Also, 2 weeks before every set releases, you can order what is called a Build & Battle Box from your local retailer.

These unique boxes, as stated earlier, release 2 weeks before a set officially drops and provide players the opportunity to experience the new cards and play style of the new cards.

Specifically, these limited, pre-release boxes include 4 booster packs, a deck-building tip sheet, 1 of 4 promo cards and a 23 card Evolution pack.

Being that the artwork for these upcoming boosters and collector’s boxes feature Shadow Rider and Ice Rider Calyrex as well as Galarian versions of the Legendary Kanto Bird Trio: Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos, I expect to see these Pokemon all appear as V Pokemon if not all VMAX as well.

Single Strike and Rapid Strike Pokemon to Continue in Chilling Reign

If you haven’t gotten any Pokemon card products as of late, the most recent set to the popular card game, Battle Styles, included new cards featuring Single Strike and Rapid Strike markers on them.

Cards with these markers can be interacted with and moved around the field of play more often than cards without this marker. Releasing sets like this causes players to truly have a reason to utilize every card they get, regardless of rarity.
