Pokemon Unite features releasing in July

Pokemon Unite is a 5-on-5 team MOBA (multiplayer online battle-arena) based on the Pokemon franchise. Pokemon, along with any cosmetics such as skins, are selected before the start of each match, and as your Pokemon levels up they would evolve and gain access to new moves.

Participating in many battles will allow players to accumulate in-game currency and rewards, such as player customizations and new Pokemon. Players can also purchase Aeos Gems using real-world currency.

We also saw that there would be NPC monsters that players can engage within the jungles of the map for extra experience and powerful legendary Pokemon that could be defeated with your team for rewards and bonuses.

Players will choose the moves that their Pokemon learn as they level up, adding a deeper layer of dynamism to each match as you’ll have to pick the best move for the situation.

Pokemon will be able to hold up to three different items that will affect their stats and abilities, plus Trainer Items which are similar in function to Summoner Spells from League of Legends. So players will need to be sure to choose their held items wisely.

Playable Pokemon at launch

Pokemon in the game will be divided into 5 main roles each with a few different benefits and drawbacks. The largest group consists of Attackers, which are characterized by having low endurance but high damage output. Attackers include the Pokemon Pikachu, Greninja, Venusaur, Alolan Nintails, Cramorant, and Cinderace.

There is a variety of support-style Pokemon making up the Defender and Supporter roles. Defenders, which are Snorlax, Crustle, and Slowbro, have high endurance and specialize in helping their allies and hindering their opponents.

Supporters on the other hand have lower endurance but focus on healing their allies and applying status conditions to opponents. The Pokemon that make up the Supporter class are Eldegoss, Mr. Mime, and Wigglytuff.

Speedsters are Pokemon who have high attack but also higher mobility than the Attacker Pokemon and focus on scoring points. Talonflame, Gengar, and Absol comprise the Speedster role.

Lastly are the well-balanced All-Rounders, bruisers with a balance of high endurance and offensive capabilities. The Pokemon who fill this role are Charizard, Lucario, Machamp, and Garchomp all of whom are certainly not to be trifled with!

Pokemon Unite is releasing in July on the Nintendo switch and looks to be a welcome addition to the Pokemon franchise that players will love. Pokemon Unite is also scheduled to come to mobile devices later this year.
