Resident Evil 8, or VILLAGE as its officially called, is the next entry in the Resident Evil series and will continue the story of Ethan and Mia as they end up in a castle this time.

But will the next entry in the RE series be on Nintendo Switch?

Is Resident Evil 8 On Nintendo Switch?

Nintendo’s latest console, the Switch, was released in 2017 and is hybrid of home and handheld gaming, allowing players to play in either handheld of docked mode.

Because of this, the console runs on mobile hardware, which is significantly weaker than home consoles. It has been reported that when in handheld mode, the Switch is just 12% as powerful as the Xbox One, a console four years older than the Switch.

Despite Capcom and Nintendo having a good relationship, Resident Evil 1 Remake, 0, and RE4 both launched on Nintendo Gamecube, the Switch is just too weak to run Resident Evil 8.

Capcom and Nintendo did use cloud gaming to allow players to run Resident Evil 7 on the system, but this is unlikely to happen with Resident Evil 8.

RE fans can still enjoy some Resident Evil on the Switch though as Resident Evil 1 Remake, 0, 4, 5, 6, and Revelations 1 & 2 are all available to play on the platform.
