How to Clean the Chicken Coop in The Sims 4 – Animal Sheds included!

The Cottage Living Expansion is another incredible bundle of content for EA’s latest Sims title. One thing it allows you to do is to keep, look after, and raise Chickens. It’s more about farming than you might think! If you have trouble trying to clean your Chicken Coop in The Sims 4, you’re not alone. Here’s everything you need to know about how you can keep those cluckers happy and keep your Cottage clean.

How To Clean The Chicken Coop In The Sims 4

If everything is working as it should, cleaning a Chicken Coop in The Sims 4 – once you have the Cottage Living Expansion installed – is actually really easy. All you need to do is click on the Chicken Coop while in Play Mode and select “Clean Coop”. This should make your selected Sim collect anything inside and clean the Chicken Coop in a matter of moments.

This is important for a number of reasons. An unclean Chicken Coop affects your Chickens’ happiness meter which can result in poorer eggs. If you can’t see any “stink lines” coming from your Chicken Coop, you should be alright. However, you can still check the happiness of each Chicken by hovering the mouse over them.

This should work, but what if it doesn’t? A lot of people are reporting a gameplay bug that stops this from happening…

  • Delete the ” localtumbcache ” file from The Sims 4
    • You can find this by going to Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4
  • Repair your installed version of The Sims 4
    • You can do this by launching Origin, selecting The Sims 4 in your Game Library, and clicking Repair
  • Reload The Sims 4 and try again

This solution has been tried and tested on EA’s forums relating to The Sims 4 and it seems to work every time so far. We can imagine that EA is working on an update to fix this issue in The Sims 4, anyway, but for now… This might be the only way you can fix your game and clean the Chicken Coop.
