How to Write Songs in The Sims 4

As always, there’s a few basic steps you’ll need to follow if you want to do something in The Sims 4, writing songs or otherwise.

Firstly, you’ll need to purchase any musical instrument. The Sims 4 offers players the chance to play the Guitar, Piano, or Violin in the base game. If you own the Vampires expansion, you can also play the Pipe Organ. If you want to sing, instead, you’ll need the City Living expansion.

Next, you’re going to need to play your instrument. A lot. You need to reach level eight of that instrument’s skill to unlock the Songwriting option when interacting with it.

From here on in, you should start getting royalties from your song. The payments only last for a week, and you can’t write more songs on the same instrument during this time, but it’s a fun little feature that can get your Sim a few extra bucks when needed.
