Valheim: How to Summon and Beat The Game’s Fourth Boss

|
Valheim Moder

Is killing a giant Dragon is on your to-do list? If so, you’re in luck! The fourth boss of Valheim, Moder, was made for you.

We have everything you need to know about summoning and beating Moder below. Good luck!

How to Summon Valheim’s Fourth Boss

Just like Valheim’s other bosses, you’ll need to find a specific Altar to summon Moder. This time, it’s located in the punishing Mountains biome. Here, the enemies are as deadly as the environment!

To make this task a little easier, Valheim has been designed to make spotting the Altar a little easier from a distance. You can uncover it’s location by exploring nearby structures in the Mountains biome.

To summon Moder, you will need to offer three Dragon Eggs to the Altar. These can be found in nests across the biome.

Keep in mind that each egg weighs approximately 200 kg so, unless you are in a group, multiple trips will be necessary.

Now that you fought your way to the altar, and did a lot of cardio carrying those damn eggs, it’s time to face Valheim’s very own “Mother of Dragons”.

For that, you will need to calm down, hold off on those Game of Thrones Season 8 flashbacks, and get ready, because Moder can alter between fighting on-air and on the ground.

  • While on air, she will make use of projectile attacks that cause big chunks of ice to span as they hit the ground.
  • While on the ground, she will make use of a punishing claw sweep and will be able to use her icy breath, which deals a high amount of damage.

To beat the boss, make use of the terrain to create an opening to attack. A good way to know when to act is to wait for the moment she starts to roar, which makes her vulnerable.

Using arrows for a ranged approach is also advised.

Here are a few extra tips:

  • The ability gain by killing Bonemass is extremely useful to fall the dragon. You can check-in on how to beat and summon the boss here
  • Her Breath attack will slow you down significantly, so stay out of its way.
  • Remember to bring lots of arrows and stamina-focused items.

Valheim was released on February 2, 2021. The game is currently available for PC, via Steam Early Access. Check the game’s official synopsis below, as is available on Steam:

“A battle-slain warrior, the Valkyries have ferried your soul to Valheim, the tenth Norse world. Besieged by creatures of chaos and ancient enemies of the gods, you are the newest custodian of the primordial purgatory, tasked with slaying Odin’s ancient rivals and bringing order to Valheim.
Your trials begin at the disarmingly peaceful centre of Valheim, but the gods reward the brave and glory awaits. Venture forth through imposing forests and snow-capped mountains, explore and harvest more valuable materials to craft deadlier weapons, sturdier armor, viking strongholds and outposts. Build a mighty longship and sail the great oceans in search of exotic lands … but be wary of sailing too far…”

So, will you face the fourth boss of Valheim alone or with friends?
