How to give Bosco a command in Deep Rock Galactic

Bosco is an AI assistant you can command in Deep Rock Galactic solo missions, enabling him to aid you in place of other players. Bosco is actually a remarkably useful tool, so getting used to giving him commands is highly recommended, particularly after you get the little drone companion some upgrades in Deep Rock.

How to command and control Bosco in Deep Rock

Bosco can be controlled by the player in solo mode at any given time, by simply holding the CTRL key and left-clicking on a target, his action will depend on what you click on.

While the command is simple, its supported options are not. Bosco’s actions are totally context-sensitive when given commands – if you place a ping on an enemy, he’ll attack. He’ll mine to an objective such as alien eggs if commanded onto them.

If he’s instead told to interact with a mining vein, such as Nitra or gold, he’ll break the rocks for you depending on his upgrade speed, leaving it on the floor below where he mined it.

Whatever you are currently looking at while holding the CTRL key will be described on the screen of the gadget you are holding, allowing you to know with certainty what precisely you’re about to command Bosco onto.

Unlike players, he might be a bit more reluctant to dig through miles of sheer common rock walls – Bosco isn’t a Driller main, after all – but if placed on a target such as a dirt wall, he’ll punch straight through to it to the other side in line with where you pinged.

And unlike your teammates, whatever they might be playing on and random or otherwise, you can choose upgrades for Bosco outside of missions yourself, allowing you to totally sync him with your own build and increase his usefulness to suit working with you better. If you command him to mine a lot, set him to the mining upgrades. If you want fire support, give him some missiles.

Theres plenty you can get away with in Deep Rock, and Bosco is an ideal partner in crime when you know how to employ him.
