Persona 5 Strikers Beginner’s Guide: How To Get Started

Persona 5 Strikers Beginner's Guide

Persona 5 Strikers (aka Persona 5 Scramble) is a sequel to Persona 5/Persona 5 Royal, and we have a beginner’s guide to get your started.

Persona 5 Strikers incorporates a musou-style gameplay with elements of the series in a unique and enjoyable way. Similar to “Castles” in the previous games, players are now expected to infiltrate “Jails” to prevent “monarchs” (parallels of the “kings”) from stealing desires of innocent people.

Unlike the main game, Strikers allows players to revisit the “Jails” as many times as they like to go back and complete everything and collect anything they missed. This takes a significant amount of the time pressure off the player.

Persona 5 Strikers: BONDS system

A new system called the BOND system has been introduced. This is a skill system for all the playable characters. The player is required to accumulate BOND experience through various actions such as defeating enemies, completing requests, progressing through the story etc.

Bond Skills are an integral part of Persona 5 Strikers gameplay

These skills have a variety of effects on the playable characters – both inside and outside of battle. Some are basic stat boosts, whereas others can be useful bonuses such as increased ammo capacity, shop discounts, Persona drop rate increase et al.

These BOND skills are important and should be leveled up whenever possible. The Bondmaker skill is very useful in accumulating BOND exp to get more BOND skills faster.

Persona 5 Strikers: Missables

While there are missable items in this game, the time pressure has definitely been eased in Strikers as compared to the main game thanks to the ability to travel back and forth between the Jails. In fact, some requests require you to do this a lot in order to complete them.

While the metaverse collectibles and quests are not that time-sensitive, the real world requests can be easily missed if you progress far ahead without collecting them. You will be notified via text that you’re moving on when it is applicable.

Persona 5 Strikers: Combat

The combat in Persona 5 Strikers, unlike the main game, is more action-oriented and real time. It is no longer turn based, but rather more hack-and-slash – as is customary with musou-style games.

Combat is rather unique in Persona 5 Strikers

However, the hack-and-slash nature is just one aspect of the combat. It incorporates elements of movement and persona-usage within combos and certain special moves when chained together or under certain conditions.

Additionally, each character in Persona 5 Strikers has a unique playstyle. Most of the phantom thieves are playable right off the bat, with some being unlocked later in the game. Make sure to use all of them and level each one up, as there will be times when you will be required to rely on all of them.

New Game+

The New Game+ feature is very much present in Persona 5 Strikers. But in order to unlock it, the player is required to beat a very strong boss, possibly the hardest in the game. Upon defeating it, the current save file will be marked as “Mastered”. Loading this save file will allow you to start a new playthrough, which is required if you need to collect all the Personas.
