Destiny 2: Season of the Splicer season trailer released

We’re in the last week of Season of the Chosen for Destiny 2, and things have ramped up more with the release of the Season of the Splicer trailer. As the season winds down and the Cabal forces have been sufficiently bodied by every Guardian in the game, the Vex are stepping up to the plate for their turn.

Many details were dropped in the trailer, such as activities, weapons, and new systems that are coming to the game. As far as seasons in Destiny go, this one seems to have the most visually striking motifs yet. From the looks of the trailer, the Last City might be bereft of light for a while, and will instead have to deal with bright neon lights.

The premise of the new season is straightforward: the Vex collective has found a way to block out the sun from reaching the Last City, and it’s up to you and Ikora to make things right. The new six-man activity will involve going into Vex simulations (because when aren’t you) to steal data that can be used against them. The area where the new activity takes place looks fantastic, as it elicits some Tron vibes from its neon light aesthetic.

Judging from the gameplay, there’s gonna be plenty of platforming and mote dunking along with the usual combat loop Destiny is known for. Alongside gameplay, we also got a look at the new ornaments that will be featured in the new season pass.

Personally speaking, they look more interesting than Season of the Chosen’s cabal-inspired armor set.

This new season has some promise, as it’s going to feature many things that have made Season of the Chosen a step up from previous seasons. It definitely seems like Bungie is doing a better job making their narrative more cohesive and having it actually follow up from any previous content.

With the moderately positive reactions to the previous season, we can hope that Bungie has done everything they’ve can to make Season of the Splicer a slam dunk for Destiny 2.
