New AEW game footage gives us a look at Darby Allin

AEW Console Game Darby Allin Character Model

AEW, or All Elite Wrestling, is one of the hottest promotions in the world today, featuring stars such as Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Cody Rhodes, Matt Hardy, Sting among many other stars.

As with many top promotions in the world, a video game was inevitable and one is now in development by the company.

This new game will be developed by Yuke’s, who are best known for making WWE games from 2000’s Smackdown all the way to WWE 2K19.

The AEW video game will be inspired of the AKI engine era games such as WWF No Mercy, while retaining the modern feel of a WWE 2K style game.

New Footage Revealed

During a recent AEW Games 2.Show episode, new footage featuring Darby Allin was revealed, giving us a look at what the game is looking like so far.

Initially the game looked to be more cartoony and over the top, with an art style similar to the likes of WWE All-Stars, but in the new footage it looks to be taking on a more realistic approach, much closer to games such as WWE 2K.

While looking more realistic, the character models seem to be similar to an action figure, rather than lifelike, with slightly exaggerated muscles and larger hands, but not to the extent that we first saw in the announcement trailer.

Release Date

As of right now there is no official release date for the game, except we can expect the game to be released in 2022.

It is quite likely that we will see the game in the first half of the year. WWE 2K games release in the autumn so it would make sense for AEW to release at a different time to not confuse the casual market, as well as not having to compete with an established brand such as WWE 2K.

Other AEW Games

With many members of AEW being serious gamers, including Kenny Omega and referee/game developer Aubrey Edwards, there are already numerous AEW games available, including a mobile casino game called Double Or Nothing, which is named after one of AEW’s flagship events.
