Today, Sony has announced a new PlayStation Showcase event, to reveal what we can expect from the company during the holiday season, as well as potentially new updates that we can expect for the PS5.

The next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X|S were released at the end of last year, so this year has seen both companies release plenty of new games for the systems, despite supply issues meaning millions of gamers are still without the new consoles.

Sony and the PlayStation 5 has led the way throughout most of the year with plenty of new releases, with titles such as Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart showcasing what the next-gen hardware can do.

While Microsoft has been fairly lacking until recently but has plenty of games set to be released as the year draws to a close, with titles such as Forza Horizon 5 and Halo finally launching in November and December respectively.

Here is everything we know about the upcoming PlayStation Showcase event.

PlayStation Showcase Event Announced

Sony has announced a brand new PlayStation Showcase event, which will take place on Thursday, September 9th at 1:00 pm PT / 9:00 pm BST.

In a blog post, Sony laid out what we can expect from the showcase.

“Tune in next Thursday, September 9 at 1:00pm Pacific Time / 9:00pm BST / 10:00pm CEST for a look into the future of PS5. The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond. And stick around after the presentation to get more updates from some of the studio teams featured in the Showcase.

One thing to note: PlayStation’s next generation of VR won’t make an appearance this time. But there will still be plenty of great PS5 games from developers large and small. We hope you can join us!”

Over the next few months, we’ve got a few titles releasing that will be exclusive to the PS5 when it comes to consoles, such as Deathloop, and Kena: Bridge Of Spirits, along with many highly anticipated titles that will release across multiple platforms including Far Cry 6, Back 4 Blood, Skyrim 10th Anniversary, and GTA V Expanded & Enhanced.

It is possible that we will see new trailers and information for most of these titles, as well as the possibility that Sony could reveal something brand new at the event.
