Grand Theft Auto V has been out for well over seven years now and Rockstar fans are hungry for the next instalment in the series; Here’s everything we know about GTA 6.
GTA 6 is going to be the next instalment in the Grand Theft Auto series from Rockstar Games. It will most-likely follow the similar First-Person / Third-Person open-world action gameplay the series is known for.
Trailer
Currently, Rockstar have not released a trailer for GTA 6. There are numerous fan-made trailers, based on the rumours and leaks, but nothing concrete yet.
Release Date
Based on the “time between games” of past Rockstar Games titles, GTA 6 could be coming out in 2023. This information coincides with a Marketing Budget Report filed by Take-Two interactive over the last year. This Budget spikes between April 2023 and March 2024, signposting a possible launch period.
Red Dead Redemption 2 released five years after GTA V, in 2018. So, following trends would suggest 2023 is possible.
A now-deleted post on Fireden also suggested that the game will “most-likely” be coming late 2022 / early 2023. Prominent Rockstar Insider Yan2295 and Notable Industry Journalist Jason Schreier both suggest that this launch period is possible.
Platforms
Redditor u/JackOLantern1982 has claimed that GTA 6 will only be available on the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, in a now-deleted post.
There is currently no official word on whether this is accurate, but it could be given the possible launch period.
Pre-Order
There is currently no way to officially pre-order GTA 6.
PC System Requirements
There are currently no PC system Requirements available. There is also no confirmation GTA 6 will launch on PC at all.
GTA 6 Setting Information
GTA 6 could be set in a fictional area inspired by Virginia, USA. This revelation is following on from eagle-eyed fans spotting co-ordinates in a teaser for the next GTA Online update. These co-ordinates take you to the middle of the Middle Mountain Trail in Virginia looking over a road shaped like “VI”, the Roman numerals for the number 6.
Redditor u/JackOLantern1982 has suggested the following in a now-deleted Reddit post:
- GTA 6 will be set between two locations, Vice City and a fictional city based on Rio de Janeiro;
- A giant Prison Complex will feature heavily in the game’s narrative;
- The game will take place between the 1970s and 1980s, not during the modern day;
A deleted post on Fireden has suggested the following, conflicting report:
- GTA 6 will be set in a modern-day Liberty City;
- A Nightclub will feature heavily in the opening stages of the game;
- GTA 6 will take place in a fictional area reminiscent of Upstate New York, inspired by Breaking Bad and Ozark;
GTA 6 could take place across the entirety of the United States of America, similar to The Crew, according to gta6grandtheftauto/.com.
GTA 6 Narrative Information
Redditor u/JackOLantern1982 has suggested the following in a now-deleted Reddit post:
- The main playable character will be “Ricardo”, a wannabe drug lord who smuggles drugs for a living;
- GTA 6 will feature a chaptered approach, similar to Red Dead Redemption 2;
- A young Martin Madrazo will make an appearance, confirming it to be set in the same storyline as GTA V;
- The HIV Crisis and Immigration issues of the 1970s and 1980s will appear in-game alongside fictional characters based on prominent figures of the era;
A deleted post on Fireden has suggested the following, conflicting report:
- The opening sequences will be inspired by crime shows like The Wire, following two police officers in an attempted bust at a nightclub;
New GTA 6 Game Mechanics & Systems
Redditor u/JackOLantern1982 has suggested the following in a now-deleted Reddit post:
- Players will only be allowed to carry two weapons, like Red Dead Redemption 2, with the player’s car operating similarly to Arthur’s horse;
- The game will include a visible Body Armour system;
- In-game weather systems will feature extreme weather and impact the gameplay, such as flooding;
A deleted post on Fireden has suggested the following, conflicting report:
- GTA 6 will have four playable characters;
- The game will be split into two halves, a “Police” half and a “Gang” half;
- The “Police” half will have gameplay similar to L.A. Noire, meanwhile the “Gang” half will be traditional Grand Theft Auto sandbox gameplay;
