Black Widow Release Date & Disney Plus Premier Access

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow is almost here and we’re here to talk about the release date and how you can watch it.

The MCU’s Phase 4 is about to properly begin with its’ first big-screen feature: Black Widow. Following on from Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff is forced to grapple with her past as a KGB Operative, her adopted “Red Room” family and the infamous “Budapest Mission”.

We don’t know exactly how this will play into the larger MCU Timeline, but given that it is before Infinity War… We know that Scarlett Johannsen’s Black Widow survives. So that’s something.

However, the other characters’ fates remain up in the air. David Harbour’s Red Guardian looks like the most likely to meet his maker, though.

With reports that the “Budapest Mission” features heavily in this film, as an important point in her character development, we could see another appearance from Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in and amongst the action. However, looking at the official cast list on IMDb suggests otherwise.

Black Widow Release Date

Black Widow is currently slated to release on July 9th, a revised date following the COVID-19 pandemic. You can check out the latest Black Widow trailer in the tweet confirming this release date below:

Black Widow is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to release in a post-lockdown world. This means it’s slated for a hybrid-style simultaneous release in select theatres and on Disney Plus via Premier Access.

Disney Plus Premier Access is somewhat similar to Amazon Prime and has already been in use for the live-action Mulan and the animated feature Raya and The Last Dragon.

Both of these films were on the service for $USD 29.99 and we’re expecting Black Widow to be listed for a similar price. We don’t know whether this will prove quite as profitable as Disney hope, but it will be an important test for the hybrid-style dual-release model of business going forwards.
