Absol is a fairly strong fighter in Pokemon Go, appearing in raids as a tier three boss, but what weakness does Absol have in Pokemon Go?

This piece is designed to inform you enough about Absol and its largest weakness so that you know how to defeat the unlucky Disaster Pokemon.

What is the biggest weakness of Absol in Pokemon Go

As is typical in any Pokemon title, including Pokemon Go, precisely how strong a Pokemon is and what moves it uses may vary depending on the individual, but there are a few things that remain consistent across all versions of it.

As is true with many other Pokemon, the easiest thing to exploit to defeat an Absol is it’s type.

Absol is simply a pure Dark-Type. In other words, it has Dark-Type strengths and weaknesses – giving Absol a few different weakness targets and a few strengths to avoid.

In particular, you’ll want to avoid using Psychic, Ghost and Dark-Type moves against Absol. If you can’t help but use one of those, at the very least avoid using Psychic moves, as it’ll be heavily reduced damage if you do.

Meanwhile, Absol has a variety of possible weak spots to target – with a weakness to Bug, Fairy and Fighting-Type moves each.

To summarise: always avoid Psychic-Type moves, and try to hit Absol with either Bug, Fairy or Fighting-Type attacks, as all of these will hit for 160% of their usual damage.

What moves can Absol use in battle?

Sometimes it can be worth considering what your opponent can hit you with, to help better plan out your battle and find a more ideal Pokemon to exploit any potential weakness Absol might have, while avoiding its strengths.

Absol does have a bit of variety in its moveset, but half of its moves are Dark-Type, so as long as you avoid Pokemon weak to Dark-Type attacks, you’re off to a good start.

Fast Attacks
  • Psycho Cut (Psychic)
  • Snarl (Dark)
Charged Attacks
  • Dark Pulse (Dark)
  • Megahorn (Bug)
  • Payback (Dark)
  • Thunder (Electric)

You’ll want to be cautious bringing Fighting-Types due to Psycho-Cut. Bug-Types are particularly safe, as Absol has no possible attacks that can hit a Pure Bug-Type for super effective damage.

Is there anything else to know about Absol in Pokemon Go?

That’s pretty much it as far as Absol goes. Pick a Bug, Fairy or Fighting-Type. For extra safety, avoid using Fighting-Types and stick to Bug or Fairy-Type specifically, as Absol has no way to target the weakness of either type.

With regards to Fighting-Type specifically, you’ll be alright as long as Absol doesn’t have Psycho Cut, but as it’s half of the possible Fast Attacks that Absol can use, its best to play it safe and avoid it if you want to plan for the optimal approach to this battle.

In any case, that’s everything for this short guide. If you’d be interested in reading more about Pokemon Go, you can find more Pokemon Go pieces on The Click right here, and more by me personally here.
