Last Updated on: 14th October 2021, 02:43 pm

The Pokemon Go Halloween 2021 event looks to be jam-packed with new things, including new Pokemon releases, new spawns and new raids.

There is quite a lot to unpack for this event, to the extent that I’ve split them up over different articles just to make it easier to see what you care about specifically. More detailed articles can be found about various different parts of the event in their own categories, so be sure to keep an eye out for the links throughout the article for the bits you’re interested in.

When is the Halloween 2021 event for Pokemon Go?

The event will start on October 15th at 10:00 based on your local timezone. It’ll be staying around until the end of the month on October 31st at 8:00 PM, also for your local timezone.

This is one of those events where the time it takes place varies by region, so make sure you’re paying attention to the actual time for you if you don’t want to miss out, as the launch will be specifically tuned to each countries time zone.

Main features of the Halloween 2021 event

First of all, I’m going to run us through the bonuses, because we’ve got something nice for this event. Specifically, candy is getting doubled.

Candy for hatching, catching and transferring is all doubled across the board, making this an excellent even to use to boost your candy counters. As an added bonus, the odds of earning a Candy XL while walking a buddy have been temporarily set to 100%, meaning you’ll always earn one on your walks during the duration of the event.

Of course, that’s not very Halloween themed, but we’ve got plenty of features for that too. The event will be backed by a remix of the iconic Lavender town music played nightly during the event, for example, so you might want to at least temporarily turn your sound back on to experience that for the spooky vibes.

The event will also feature new spawns, new eggs, and new raids, as you might expect from a large event like this one. To simplify things I’ve split those sections off into their off relevant portions, as they packed quite a lot into each and this article would be very long otherwise.

You can still find full details of part 1, Creepy Companions and part 2, Ghoulish pals at the respective links here, if you’re familiar with my event coverage already you know I don’t typically break things up like this. In this case, however, the event is simply so huge it felt quite needed.

With that said, however, we still have plenty to cover here – including new Pokemon and an entirely new mechanic, so let’s keep going!

Newly released Pokemon, new shinies and a new mechanic?!

Halloween 2021 will be adding five new Pokemon to Pokemon Go, two separate Pokemon families specifically and one extra, and in addition to that will be adding a bonus of two shiny Pokemon – specifically, Spinarak and Ariados.

These Pokemon will be Phantump and Pumpkaboo, with their respective evolved forms Trevenant and Gourgeist. You can expect to see Pumpkaboo and Phantump in the wild and in raids throughout the second half of the event.

Speaking of Pumpkaboo, that brings us nicely on to the next topic – an entirely new game mechanic relating to size.

Specifically, various sizes of Pumpkaboo will actually appear larger or smaller in the game, with different models used to reflect it. This makes a nice change from the current one size fits all we have at the moment, so here’s hoping it’ll be expanded to more Pokemon in the future.

The final Pokemon introduced here is Galarian Slowking, – evolved from Galarian Slowpoke setting it as your buddy and catching 30 Psychic-type Pokemon.

Wild spawns, new raids and new eggs

As mentioned previously, some parts of this piece have been written elsewhere due to its sheer size otherwise.

You can find the details on the two different halves of the spawns, raids and eggs appearing during Halloween 2021 in Pokemon Go right here, with Creepy Companions and Ghoulish Pals covered in detail in their respective articles at these links.

New Avatar items for the Halloween 2021 event in Pokemon Go

New Halloween-themed avatar items will be made available to players in the Pokemon Go store during the event, with yet-to-be-revealed pricing. The items will be available after the event, so there’s no rush to get them.

I’ve discussed these new avatar items in a bit more detail at the link given. These items become available from October 14th onwards.

The Spooky bundles for the Halloween 2021 event in Pokemon Go

The spooky bundles will be priced at the usual amounts you’d expect, 480 coins for the small one and 1480 for the larger bundles, and the items are about the standard fare for the price tag too, if slightly more generous than usual.

The shop bundles also have their own article, to help shorten this already lengthy one – make sure to visit that link if you’re interested.

Anything else worth mentioning?

The Halloween event for Pokemon Go in 2021 will also feature new Halloween themed stickers, displayed in a promotional image below. Not the most exciting part, but some players do enjoy the stickers.

The event will also come with a special research story – called What Lies beneath the mask?

In this special research, Ghost-type Pokemon will be appearing more often throughout, and Professor Willow has tasked you with learning about them – Of particular note, Yamask will be making appearances, as you may guess from the name.

Outside of the stickers and story though, that’s about everything for this article. I’ve covered various parts in more detail in different articles though due to the sheer size of this event, so if you’re interested in anything in particular, feel free to go back to that section and check out the more detailed articles about it.
