Pokemon Go: How to evolve Tangela into Tangrowth

Tangrowth in the Pokemon anime

Tangrowth is the pure Grass-type evolution to the Gen 1 Pokemon Tangela, but how exactly do you get Tangrowth in Pokemon Go? Do you need any extra items or is it just a simple evolution? Are there any other restrictions?

Fortunately enough, these are pretty easy questions to answer, so let’s get into it.

How to get Tangrowth in Pokemon Go

As you might expect, if you want Tangrowth you’ll need a Tangela to start with. Actually, you need to get quite a few of them, given you’ll need about 100 candy to evolve Tangela to Tangrowth at all. That isn’t the only requirement though.

You’ll also need a Sinnoh Stone for this particular evolution, which we’ll talk about next.

Sinnoh stones are fairly annoying items to get ahold of. Your best bet for finding them is typically claiming research breakthroughs or completing trainer battles, which means it’s a real problem for players who don’t actively PVP. You might also be able to find one through limited-time research or rare tasks, so keep an eye out.

When you’ve found yourself a Sinnoh Stone, make sure to check out the link above to be certain you want to use it for Tangrowth – there are quite a few Pokemon who need these items to evolve.

Is there anything else to be aware of?

Once you’ve decided you’re sure you want Tangrowth, go ahead and hit that Evolve button and you’re done here. Just make sure to check what else a Sinnoh Stone can get you, as it’s quite the list.

That’s about everything that needs to be said for Tangrowth. If you’re looking for more Pokemon Go content like this guide or other news and stories, you can find them in our Pokemon Go Category, and if you’d instead like to see more by me specifically, you can find my page here.
