Pokemon Go: Recently released Skwovet gets a Spotlight Hour

Skwovet in the pokemon anime

Pokemon Go is planning a Skwovet spotlight hour to celebrate the recent release of the Cheeky Pokemon from Gen VIII. Make sure not to miss out.

If you somehow have managed to capture more than enough Skwovet since its release before this spotlight event, the only thing left to consider is the event special bonus, which is doubled transfer candy.

When is the Skwovet Spotlight hour in Pokemon Go?

The Pokemon Go Skwovet Spotlight hour will start on Pokemon Go on the 24th of August 2021 at 6:00 PM local time, and finishes an hour later at 7:00 PM.

As you’d expect from the name, an hour is a typical duration for these events.

Local time for anyone not already familiar with it refers to the time where you personally are, so the event launches at different times around the planet – no need to worry about timezones in other words.

What can we expect from the Skwovet Spotlight hour?

If you’re not used to taking part in Spotlight hours in Pokemon go yet, they’re basically a one hour version of the spawns portion of a Community day. In short, they replace pretty much all of the spawns in the game with the Pokemon in the Spotlight – which in this case means Skwovet.

That’s great if you like Skwovet and want more of them, not so good if you don’t like that Pokemon though.

These events do throw in an extra bonus for Trainers who aren’t sold on the spotlight Pokemon alone though, and for this event, the bonus will be doubled transfer candy for the duration. While not the best of the bonuses, doubling transfer candy is certainly useful, if you have some Pokemon saved up in storage it makes for a great time to clean up your Pokemon list.

Is there anything else to know?

Typically, it’d be worth considering taking part in a spotlight hour to try to farm the Shiny version of the featured Pokemon due to the large numbers of them spawning, however, Shiny Skwovet is highly unlikely to be available given it was only recently released before this event.

Using a method I’ve covered in this article here, called Shiny checking, you can use a lot of Pokemon spawns in a short time to try to find a Shiny. This is most effective during Spotlight hours and Community days where spawns of a single Pokemon species are abundant and quickly replaced.

With that said, we’re probably not seeing Shiny Skwovet in this event, unfortunately, so that’s about it for this article.
