Pokemon Go has given us a surprise new research task on day two of Pokemon Go Fest, Strange Rings. Here’s a list of all the tasks.

The event is very clearly related to the current appearance of Hoopa Confined in the game art assets, but what else do we know about this special research task?

Pokemon Go – Strange Rings Research

The research task Strange Rings will be popping up for Trainers at 10:00 AM local time on the 18th of July (today) as a surprise for most trainers, Hoopas arrival to the game was not particularly advertised in advance.

Strange Rings Research Tasks in Pokemon Go

Strange Rings Research page one

  • Transfer 20 Pokémon
    • Five Max Potions 
  • Take two snapshots 
    • Three Razz Berries
  • Battle in three raids

Total Rewards: 5,000 XP, one Lucky Egg, and 2,000 Stardust

  • Win five raids
    • Five Max Revives
  • Make five Great Throws
    • Three Silver Pinap Berries
  • Catch 20 different species of Pokémon
    • Five Max Potions

Total Rewards: 10,000 XP, three Silver Pinap Berries, and 3,000 Stardust

The research seems to be quite simple and fairly rewarding, so it’s certainly worth doing just on a purely incentive-based approach, but it’s tie in to Hoopa immediately after the Pokemon began getting teased in the splash art seems to be implying we’ll be seeing a lot more of Hoopa and these Strange rings very soon.

This situation with Hoopa and the Strange Rings on day two of Pokemon Go Fest has been a bit of a surprise for many players, and the situation is still ongoing at the moment.
