WrestleMania 37: Bobby Lashley vs Drew McIntyre will open Night 1

It is almost time for WWE’s “Showcase of the Immortals” WrestleMania 37. After a fanless event in 2020, WrestleMania 37 will have fans in attendance.

Like last year, the event will be taking place over two nights, rather than a single 7-8 show, which is much more manageable.

Because of this, matches feel like they get more focus on them and it allows for two main events, which helps showcase top matches even further.

Night 1 Opener Confirmed

WWE has confirmed that the WWE Championship will open Night 1 of WrestleMania 37 as Bobby Lashley defends the title against Drew McIntyre.

Typically we see a Heavyweight Championship close out the PPV, so it is interesting to see it defended in the opening match of night 1, but it has also been confirmed that Sasha Banks vs Bianca Belair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship will be closing Night 1.

In recent years we have seen a much-needed emphasis on women’s wrestling so it is great to see women main event at least one of the nights.

Bobby Lashley recently won the WWE Championship for the first time by defeating The Miz on Raw back March 1st, becoming the third Superstar in history to capture the WWE Championship, with the other two being The Rock in 1998 and Kofi Kingston at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.

In the past Lashley has struggled to connect with fans, but found huge success in late-2020 and 2021 as part of the Hurt Business alongside MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander.

And for reasons that still baffle us, WWE recently broke the Hurt Business up, although MVP has confirmed the faction is still together, but only MVP and Lashley are current members.

Hopefully WWE can think of some new members to add because the Hurt Business has consistently been one of the best parts of Raw each week.
